Infrared Olympus E-520 Converted to 590nm

This was my first real outing with a dedicated infrared‑converted camera set to 590 nm. My old Olympus E‑520 had been sitting untouched in a cupboard for years—one of those bodies you keep “just in case,” even though you know you’ll never use it again. Once I upgraded to the newer Olympus system, the lens compatibility became a one‑way street: the old Four Thirds lenses wouldn’t fit the new body, and the newer Micro Four Thirds lenses were useless on the E‑520.
Rather than let it gather dust forever, I decided to give the camera a second life. I sent it off for a full IR conversion, turning it into something with a completely different creative purpose. Shooting at 590 nm opens up that lovely mix of false colour and near‑infrared detail, and this was my first chance to see what the converted E‑520 could actually do. It felt like rediscovering an old friend—just with a very different personality
